Overview

Provides participants with the underpinning knowledge and the understanding required to act responsibly when dealing with the gaming industry (pubs, clubs, casinos and venues) promoting the use of gaming machines, table games, keno, TAB and all other gambling services.

Who is this course for?

If you are working (or planning to work) in a venue that is licensed to keep and operate gaming machines then you will need RCG certification to do any of the following roles:

  • Licensee (of a full hotel)
  • Secretary (of a registered club)
  • Staff whose duty includes any activity involving gaming machines on the premises. This may include but is not limited to staff who patrol or serve in the gaming machine area, or staff who are involved in paying out winnings to patrons.

Skills developed

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and understanding required to identify and assist problem gamblers, provide assistance to family and friends and assist with self exclusion procedures in order to minimize harm to the individual and community.

Outcomes

At the end of the course you are required to successfully complete a written assessment.

This course is accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF), Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), and is also approved by the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing as satisfying the RCG training provisions.

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a Statement of Attainment in “SITHGAM201 Provide Responsible Gambling Services” as part of SIT20213 Certificate II in Hospitality as well as the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing interim certificate which is required to apply for an RCG competency card.

In order to successfully enrol in this course, you must have a level of proficiency in written English, allowing you to engage in the course materials and content and ensuring you can undertake the variety of assessments.

This course is delivered over 6 hours in a face-to-face classroom environment by a a qualified and approved RCG trainer and assessor.

The following occupations relate to this qualification.

Gaming Attendants control games of chance in casinos. They operate equipment, set up games tables, collect losing bets, pay out winning bets and announce the winning numbers, and sometimes serve food and beverages to customers.

Gaming Supervisors are team leaders or supervisors in the gaming sector of the hospitality industry. They supervise gaming operations in clubs, hotels or casinos.
