Wanetta Haynes lands her dream job with the Seabreeze Hotel

Wanetta Haynes

Since completing JobReady training with Allara Learning, Wanetta Haynes has fulfilled her dream of becoming a bar manager at the Seabreeze Hotel in Nelson Bay.

Looking for a career in hospitality, but with no formal qualifications or prior experience, twenty-year-old Wanetta Haynes struggled to find employment in her local area.

On hearing of the JobReady program at the Seabreeze Hotel in Nelson Bay, Wanetta seized the opportunity to gain the hospitality skills she needed and the possibility of employment.

The JobReady program is a pre-employment initiative developed by Allara Learning that aims to provide training and employment opportunities to local job seekers while delivering skilled and experienced new staff members to employers.

With training held on site at the Seabreeze Hotel, Wanetta was able to see first-hand the different aspects of hospitality in a real working environment.

“The training I received was very helpful and I loved it…I am so proud of myself… After completing this course, I went on to work experience, part time [employment] and now I am just about to sign a contract for my dream job as a bar manager.”

Wanetta and her fellow students were trained in the various service areas of the venue, including housekeeping and accommodation, food and beverage service, the bar, gaming service and the bottle shop.

The program not only provided Wanetta with the skills and experience she needed for a successful career in the hospitality industry, it also facilitated personal growth and development. “I’m very proud of myself… I’ve moved up and matured a lot”, commented Wanetta.

“Hospitality is her direction. I know that I can get 100% from her… She was shy at the start… but then moving up and moving through the ranks I have noticed her find her feet. As a result, we have given her more responsibility and she has taken that on board.”

On completion of her training with Allara Learning, Wanetta was offered employment as a bartender at the Seabreeze Hotel.

General Manager at the Seabreeze Hotel, Peter Mazoudier said;

“Hospitality is her direction. I know that I can get 100% from her… She was shy at the start… but then moving up and moving through the ranks I have noticed her find her feet. As a result, we have given her more responsibility and she has taken that on board.”

Just six months after completing the program, Wanetta was offered her dream position as a full-time bar manager at the venue.
