Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to maintain store security and safety by monitoring and coordinating workplace practices to ensure organisational policies and procedures and legislative requirements are adhered to.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to manage and ensure the delivery of customer service standards and work with team members to improve customer experiences.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to lead and manage a frontline team by delegating work, monitoring performance and taking action to improve standards of performance. Gain the ability to maintain employee relations in the workplace and implement dispute and grievance procedures when employment related issues occur.

​Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to identify workplace recruitment needs and follow organisational recruitment processes to hire and induct new team members.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to create, administer and communicate staff rosters, including the ability to plan rosters according to industrial provisions and operational efficiency requirements, and within wage budgets.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to drive the sales of products and services, and create a sales environment, to meet sales targets.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to manage retail store financials by controlling costs, managing rosters and stock levels, and reviewing financial performance.

Learn and develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively implement operational plans by monitoring operational performance, planning and acquiring resources and providing reports on performance as required. Gain the ability to implement continuous improvement systems and processes, including using systems and strategies to actively encourage the team to participate in the process, monitoring and reviewing performance, and identifying opportunities for further improvements.

This course is a work-based course. This means you will complete the development of knowledge and skills through on-the-job learning and complete assessments within your workplace. 

An Allara Learning training facilitator will conduct workplace visits on an agreed schedule and to conduct training and assessment. You will be required to complete a series of assessment tasks in between each workplace visit.

Through Allara Learning’s Student Portal you will be able to:

  • Access your learning materials and assessments
  • Undertake and complete assessments
  • Contact your trainers and assessors
  • Receive feedback on your assessment outcomes

The duration for the course is 12 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, you will need to attend each of the scheduled workshops and complete the on-the-job learning tasks. The time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of already attained skills and knowledge.

Education requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:

  • have achieved a Certificate III in Retail
    or
  • have relevant industry employment experience in a job role that has involved the application of skills and knowledge described in core units of competency from the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail.

Subsidised training
Some states and territories have specified entry requirements for participants accessing subsidised training.

English language requirements
To enrol in this course, you must have a level of proficiency in English language, literacy and numeracy, allowing you to engage in the course materials and content, and ensuring you can undertake the variety of assessments. You will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment at the time of application to assess your English language level.
