Introduction and Purpose
This Student Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all students enrolled with Allara Learning. It is designed to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive, and productive learning environment for everyone, aligning with the Standards for RTOs 2025, and the principles upheld by vocational training regulatory authorities across the ACT, NSW, and QLD governments.
By enrolling with Allara Learning, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct, our policies and procedures, and all relevant legislative requirements.
The Allara Learning Student Promise
As an Allara Learning student, you are here to learn, grow, and shine. Therefore, you promise to:
- Show Up: Be present, punctual, and prepared—whether in class, online, or on placement.
- Speak Up: Participate actively, ask for help early, and communicate with respect.
- Step Up: Take ownership of my work, respect the privacy of others, and maintain the highest standards of honesty and safety.
- Stand Out: Represent myself and Allara Learning professionally in every environment.
General Conduct and Respect
Allara Learning is committed to providing a fair, equitable, and inclusive learning environment (as per our Access, Equity and Enrolment Policy). As a student, you are expected to:
- Treat others with respect: Show courtesy and consideration to all staff, fellow students, third-party partners, and visitors. This includes respecting diverse backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and opinions. You are expected to use appropriate language and tone in all interactions whether in person, online, or in written communication.
- Digital conduct: Your obligations under this Code extend to all digital environments, including the Learning Management System (LMS), email, and any student-led messaging groups (e.g., WhatsApp).
- Cyber Bullying: You must not engage in "cyber-bullying," unauthorised recording of sessions, or the sharing of images/videos of staff or students without their express written consent.
- Online Etiquette: When participating in virtual classrooms, you are expected to maintain a professional environment. This includes being appropriately dressed, using a neutral background, and ensuring your microphone and camera are used respectfully as directed by your trainer.
- Maintain a positive learning environment: Contribute to an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and free from disruption. Allara Learning is committed to providing a learning environment free from harassment, discrimination, and bullying, and one that does not pose any Workplace Health and Safety risks. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- Zero-tolerance for discrimination and harassment: Allara Learning has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, bullying, victimisation, or unlawful discrimination based on protected attributes (e.g., age, disability, race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, cultural or linguistic background, marital status, or pregnancy). Any such incidents will be addressed promptly and confidentially through our Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure.
- Privacy and confidentiality: Allara Learning is committed to protecting your personal information (as per our Privacy and Personal Information Policy). You are expected to:
- Respect privacy: Respect the privacy of other students and staff members. Do not share personal information about others without their explicit consent.
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality regarding any sensitive information you may encounter during your studies, particularly in workplace-based learning or discussions.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a core requirement of your enrolment. All students must adhere to these standards when completing coursework and assessments:
Honesty and Originality
- Provide Accurate Information: Ensure all information provided during enrolment and throughout your studies is true, complete, and accurate.
- Submit Original Work: All assessment tasks must be your own work. You must be the primary author of any content submitted for marking.
- Avoid Plagiarism: Do not present the ideas, words, or work of another person as your own. This includes content from books, websites, articles, or other students. All external sources must be appropriately acknowledged and referenced.
Prohibited Conduct (Cheating and Collusion)
- Zero-Tolerance for Cheating: Do not use unauthorized materials, share answers with others, or engage in any deceptive practices during assessments.
- Avoid Collusion: While peer discussion is encouraged, you must not work with other students to complete individual assessment tasks unless specifically instructed by your trainer that it is a "group task."
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Authorised Use Only: AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or specialized writing assistants) may only be used for research or brainstorming purposes, unless your specific assessment instructions state otherwise.
- Original Submission: You must not submit AI-generated text or media as your own. The final submission must reflect your own understanding and writing. Unauthorized or undisclosed use of AI will be treated as academic misconduct.
Copyright and Intellectual Property
- Respect Ownership: Do not copy, reproduce, or distribute copyrighted material (including Allara Learning materials, software, or third-party resources) without explicit permission or legal authorization.
- Internal Policy: All students must adhere to the Allara Learning Intellectual Property and Copyright Policy.
Attendance and Participation
Active engagement is the foundation of successful training. To maintain your enrolment and progress toward your qualification, you are required to:

- Scheduled Sessions: Attend all required online or face-to-face training sessions as per your schedule.
- Work Placements (if applicable): Attend your assigned workplace on the agreed dates and times.
- Notification of Absence: If you are unable to attend a session or a placement day, you must notify Allara Learning (and your workplace supervisor, if on placement) in advance.
Active Participation
- Contribute to Learning: Engage fully in all learning activities, discussions, and practical tasks.
- Professional Performance: When in a workplace or practical environment, perform duties to the best of your ability, comply with all reasonable directions, and maintain the standards of dress and behaviour expected by the industry.
Commitment to Progress
- Meet Deadlines: Submit all assessment tasks and required documentation (including placement logbooks) by the specified due dates.
- Proactive Communication: If you anticipate difficulties in meeting a deadline or attending a placement, you must communicate with your trainer or placement coordinator at the earliest opportunity.
Safety and Incident Reporting
- Report Immediately: Promptly report any personal injury, "near miss," or property damage occurring during training or work placement to both the site supervisor and Allara Learning.
- Guidelines: Read and adhere to any specific Work Experience Placement (WEP) Guidelines provided for your specific course.
Use of Facilities and Resources
You are expected to use Allara Learning's facilities and resources responsibly:
- Care for property: Treat all Allara Learning property, including classrooms, equipment, and digital resources (such as the LMS - aXcelerate), with care and respect.
- Appropriate use of IT systems: Use Allara Learning's IT systems and internet access only for legitimate educational purposes. Do not engage in activities that are illegal, unethical, or disruptive.
Health and Safety
Allara Learning is committed to providing a safe learning environment. You are expected to:

- Maintain a safe environment: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and instructions provided by Allara Learning staff. Report any unsafe conditions, practices, or incidents promptly to your trainer.
- No Drugs and Alcohol: You must not attend training programs while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The use of such substances may impair your capacity to learn safely and efficiently. This policy does not prohibit the use of prescription pharmaceuticals; however, you should check with your doctor that your prescription does not impair your study performance or put you or others at risk.
- Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Environment: Allara Learning is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment. Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes (vaping) are strictly prohibited inside all training facilities, offices, and within the immediate vicinity of building entrances.
- Broad Application: This prohibition applies to all tobacco products and all vaping devices/substances, regardless of whether they contain nicotine.
- Work Placements: When undertaking work experience or training at a third-party site, you must strictly adhere to that host’s specific smoking and vaping policies.
- Under 18s: In line with 2026 national educational safety standards, students under the age of 18 are prohibited from possessing or using vaping products at any time while engaged in Allara Learning activities.
- Psychosocial Wellbeing: We are committed to your 'psychosocial safety.' This means we provide a learning environment that protects your mental and emotional wellbeing. We expect students to behave in a way that supports the psychosocial safety of the group. If you are experiencing personal difficulties that impact your ability to comply with this Code or your studies, we encourage you to access our Student Support services early.
Supporting Minors and Working with Children
Allara Learning is committed to the safety and wellbeing of students under the age of 18 in compliance with Federal and State Working with Children legislation.
- Parental Involvement: For students under 18, we require current emergency contact details for a parent or legal guardian. We maintain an open line of communication and will keep parents/guardians informed regarding the student's progress, attendance, and any wellbeing or conduct concerns.
- Consent and Privacy: Students under 18 must ensure their parent or guardian has reviewed and co-signed the enrolment agreement and this Code of Conduct.
Fees and Financial Obligations
As outlined in our Fees, Charges and Refunds Policy, you are responsible for understanding and meeting your financial obligations:
- Understand fees: Be aware of the total course fees, additional charges, payment plans, and refund conditions applicable to your enrolment. This information is provided prior to enrolment.
- Timely payments: Ensure all agreed fees and charges are paid by their due dates.
- Consequences of non-payment: Understand that non-payment of fees may result in withdrawal of access to the course or refusal to provide certification.
Compliance with Policies and Legislation
- Adhere to Allara Learning policies: You are expected to be familiar with and comply with all Allara Learning policies and procedures, including those referenced in this document.
- Comply with laws: You must comply with all relevant Commonwealth, State, and Territory laws and regulations, including anti-discrimination legislation, privacy laws, and vocational education and training regulations.
Breaches of the Code
Consequences of Non-Compliance with the Student Code of Conduct
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may lead to various disciplinary actions, including:
- Verbal or written warnings.
- Suspension from training activities.
- Withdrawal from your current training product.
- Reporting the matter to relevant authorities where legally required.
Circumstances That May Result in Termination of Enrolment
Specific breaches that could lead to immediate termination from your training include, but are not limited to:
- Violating the Drug and Alcohol conduct obligations.
- Engaging in sexual harassment toward another participant or staff member.
- Instances of repeated plagiarism.
- Misconduct that causes another participant or staff member to fear for their safety.
Procedural Fairness
All disciplinary measures will be implemented in line with the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness. This guarantees that you will be:
- Informed of all allegations against you.
- Given a proper opportunity to provide a response.
- Afforded the right to appeal any decision, as detailed in our Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure.
