Course plan

This topic focuses on understanding and implementing safe food handling practices, including proper food storage, food handling, and serving techniques. Participants will learn about foodborne illnesses, contamination prevention, and cleaning and sanitising procedures.

This topic covers workplace health and safety regulations and procedures. Participants will learn about hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe work practices to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries.

This course is delivered through classroom based training that includes simulated on-the-job experiences. 

An Allara Learning training facilitator conducts training within simulated classroom environments to develop your foundational skills and knowledge. 

Through Allara Learning’s Student Portal you will be able to:

  • Access your learning materials and assessments
  • Undertake and complete assessments
  • Contact your trainers and assessors
  • Receive feedback on your assessment outcomes

The duration for the course is 1 full day. To complete the course in this timeframe, you will need to complete each of the assessment tasks.

In order to successfully enrol in this course, you must have a level of proficiency in written English, allowing you to engage in the course materials and content, and ensuring you can undertake the variety of assessments.

The resources and equipment required to deliver this training will be provided by Allara Learning at our Brisbane campus. 

All participants will need to ensure they wear appropriate attire and bring with them:

  • their photo identification,
  • a note book, and
  • a pen.

Yes, this course leads to a nationally recognised statement of attainment.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a statement of attainment for the following units of competency: 

  • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety
